Sir Robert Hode, graaf van Huntington, kan het niet hebben dat de bevelhebbers van het leger van baron Daguerre zich macht toe-eigenen op een grondgebied dat hen niet toebehoort en confronteert hen hiermee. Bijgevolg wordt Robert ontboden door de baron. Tegen alle verwachtingen in keert de baron zich tegen zijn oude vriend Robert en straft hij hem door hem buiten de wet te stellen en dus vogelvrij te verklaren. Vanaf dat moment zweert Robert om zijn vijanden, geldgieren en belastinginners op zijn eigen manier een lesje te leren als de innovatieve en avontuurlijke "Robin Hood".
